AGE UK BOURNEMOUTH
You may have seen adverts in the newspapers and on the television for the new national charity Age UK. Age UK was the result of the merger of the two national charities Age Concern England and Help the Aged. Age Concern Bournemouth is an independent local charity and our funds are used to help people in later life in and around the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area. We have for the past ten years however been a member of the national Age Concern Federation and so it is a natural progression for us to build up strong links with the new national charity Age UK.
As a result it is very likely that we will be changing our working name later in the year to ‘Age UK Bournemouth’. We are not merging with the national charity and we remain independent and local. Nothing is changing in the way we do our work or how we spend our funds as a result of this name change. Being a part of Age UK will however bring benefits to local people as we will be able to take advantage of support provided by the national charity.
