Wayfinder Project
PARTNERSHIP FOR OLDER PEOPLES PROJECT POPP
POPP is a partnership between older people, voluntary organisations, Dorset County Council, local district and borough councils, the NHS and housing authorities. It aims to help keep older people living within their communities for as long as they wish by providing opportunities, activities and support when and where needed.
Spreading the word about POPP is largely down to local Wayfinders – an important element of the POPP program, which is managed by Steve Collins “Information & Development Manager” and newly appointed POPP Project Manager based at Age Concern Bournemouth.
There will be almost 100 paid staff and volunteers acting as sign-posters, support workers and advocates to help people living in Dorset.
The Wayfinders will be based in local communities so older people will be able to pop into their local library, pharmacy, village hall, or supermarket for a range of information about local services relating to health, social activities and general wellbeing.
